A must have for any Batman fan, young or old who should understand the history of the Bat. In order to understand the death of Robin, Boy Wonder, the reader must first understand the history of Batman & Robin. Dick Grayson was the first Robin. The son of circus performers who were murdered as the result of dispute with gangsters, Batman got involved and took pity on the 12 year old. Of course, Batman identified with Grayson, seeing the young boy's tragedy as a reflection of his own. Grayson was unofficially adopted by Batman, trained in fighting crime and initiated as Robin. Grayson played the role of Robin for six years before moving on to the Teen Titans, eventually adopting the name Nightwing. After operating alone for a year and a half, Batman came upon a young (again, 12 years old) Jason Todd, who just so happened to be stealing the tires of the Batmobile. Batman enlisted Todd in the capture of a local crime lord and eventually started teaching the young orphan the ropes of fighting crime. "Readers clearly regarded the new Robin as a whining usurper and decided on capital punishment." - Time Magazine "But the real murderers are the Batman readers"- Newsweek "A group of comic book artists and writers has succeeded in doing what the most fiendish minds of the century have failed to accomplish"- Reuters "Holy Ayatollah, Batman, Robin is Dead!"- Wall Street Journal "The Boy Wonder is dead, and the readers of DC Comics; Batman want it that way."- USA Today "coming this month is a whole new way of doing a book, and you'll see it first from DC with the Batman series." - The Boston Rock "It would be a really sleazy stunt to bring him back."- Denny O'Neil, Editor DC Comics.
