Friday, December 7th, 2007Check this out. You’ll either love it or hate it. Think of… Speed Racer meets Cool World meets Sin City. The perfect ingredients for something just this side of anime-realism. I think it’s going to rock!
The film is directed by the Wachowski brothers with Emile Hirsch, who was in Into The WIld, ALpha Dog and Lords of Dogtown, as Speed and Christina Ricci as Speed’s girlfriend, Trixie. Susan Sarandon and John Goodman portray Speed’s parents.
Starting in 1992, Speed Racer was a project in development hell that changed directors, screenwriters, and actors through the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2006, the film entered production and began filming on greenscreen sets in Berlin during the summer of 2007. Speed Racer has a release date set for May 9, 2008.
