Guardians of the Galaxy is casting and they’ve got their eyes on comedians Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler. Find out what role they are being considered for!
Marvel has reportedly set it sights on either Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler for a major role in their upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy. Which guardian exactly? That part is still speculative. There are two different characters in the comics that could call for a comedic presence: Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Groot, is very stoic in the comics and it would make sense for Marvel to play that up as funny. Rocket Raccoon is the character that makes the most sense. He’s funny, it just makes sense for a comedian to play the role.
Why is This a Good Move for Marvel?
Lets face it, Guardians of the Galaxy may be popular and well recognized amongst comic book fans, but to the outside world…not so much. With a big name like Sandler or Carey attached to the film, Marvel is offering broad appeal to theater goers that the film wouldn’t otherwise would not have. Marvel turned Iron Man from a somewhat known character to the hands down most popular character in their universe. Do you think they could do that with any of the Guardians of the Galaxy?
