Batman and Robin To The Rescue Zone

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Cool sign someone made depicting a Batman and Robin Rescue zone. I don’t know if it’s a real sign or just a photoshop someone made, but it’s still pretty cool. You can find the original art work here.

Superhero Video Of The Day – Batman Gets Pwned

ok, this is absolutely awesome. This guy pulls off an excellent (funny) Batman. Funny as hell. Will have to see if they got more stuff like this.

They Killed Batman… f’reals! (spoiler)

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

I am soooo pissed. You don’t kill Batman. You just don’t.

Yeah, totally sucks. In Final Crisis # 6. Batman pulls a god gun and shoots Darkseid dead for good (we think) but unfortunately, Darkie gets off one shot at Bats, and that done fried him up good.
Batman says something like: I swore an oath never to use weapons like this, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime exception to protect ALL LIFE.

Omega Beams Hit Bats.

And then Superman finds him…. sniff. Bastards!

But don’t worry. This summer they have a book called Black Lantern. You know Green Lanterns? Based off will power? Now there is a spectrum of rings and powers.

- Yellow Lantern Corp is Fear based.
- Purple is love based.
- Blue is hope based.
- Red Lanterns are rage based.
- And Black Lanterns will be “The dead come to life.” (You get the idea? So maybe Bats isn’t dead.)
So a bunch of previously dead heroes – no doubt Bats, too – will come back as a part of this evil Corp. I’m envisioning a whole … GL/Hal Jordan Spectre thing but on a bigger scale.
You may now commence the ranting! I know I am. This whole Final Crisis series is sheeat!!
… God I hate DC. … Marvel too. Bastich’s!!

The Dark Knight up for Oscars!

Dark Knight Up For Oscars

It’s Oscar time baby! And The Dark Knight is in the running!

“The Dark Knight” will compete for the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures along with “Milk,”The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Frost/Nixon,” and “Slumdog Millionaire.”

“The Dark Knight” is also one of seven films competing for the Oscar, along with “Iron Man,” “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” “Australia,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” and “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” What the hell? Journey to the Center of the Earth is up fo an Oscar? Jesus, what’s this world coming to? But then again, I didn’t see the movie. Even though I like Brendan Fraser, I didn’t care too much for The 3rd Mummy movie. … or was it the 4th?

“The Dark Knight” is likewise a potential nominee for the British Academy Film Awards, with nominations in 13 categories, tied with Oscar fave Slumdog Millionaire and several other films. (Note to self, check out Slumdog Millionaire. Never heard of it.)

And it doesn’t stop there. “The Dark Knight” is also in the running for the Oscar for best make-up. I never even knew there was an Oscar for make-up. TDK is on the long list of seven from which three nominees will eventually be chosen.

There is also a posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger, and there are still hopes that TDK will be nominated for best picture as well.

Ballots are due Jan. 12, the nominations are announced early on Jan. 22 and the show airs on Feb. 22 on ABC.

Pic of the day 12.30.08 – Yvonne Craig / Batgirl

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I just learned something today! Did you know, that the incredibly hot Yvonne Craig, who plaid Batgirl in the 1960s Batman tv series, is also the green Orion slave girl “Marta” in the Star Trek original series episode “Whom Gods Destroy?” Awesome.

Yvonne Craig as batgirl

Not only is her Batgirl performance perfect but she did a stellar job as Marta the slave girl. God, she’s such a fox!. You can read up on Yvonne here. We’ll be collecting a plethora of pics of her some time soon.

Catwoman, Eartha Kitt, Passes Away On Christmas

Friday, December 26th, 2008

If you are any fan of the Adam West Batman tv show back in the 70s, then you’ll be saddened to hear that one of the three beloved actors who played Catwoman, Ms. Eartha Kitt, has passed away. She died from colon cancer at the age of 81.

Catwoman Eartha Kitt dies

Eartha was born in 1926 on a South Carolina cotton plantation.  Her mother was part Cherokee and African-American, her father Germa and Dutch descent, who’s surname was Kitt who’s father was the owner of the plantation Eartha was born on. From an early age she was ostracized because of her mixed-race heritage. At 8 years old, Earth was given away by her mother to go live with her aunt Anna Mae Riley in Harlem.Â

After her Riley’s death, she was sent to live in New York City with her biological mother Mamie Kitt. As a teen ager in New York, Eartha auditioned for the Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe. By age 19 she eventually won a spot as a featured dancer and vocalist and toured worldwide with the company. While touring in Paris, she was spotted by a nightclub owner and booked as a featured singer at his club.Â

Welles gave Eartha her first starring role as Helen of Troy in Dr. Faustus. Welles and Eartha had a torrid affair where Welles nicnamed her “the most exciting woman in the world.”  She eventually landed Charles Revson, as another lover, who was the founder of the Revlon cosmetic company, who custom made a flaming red lipstick, for Eartha, that was called Fire and Ice.Eartha’s famous cat-like purr and unique persona earned her fans and fame quickly. Â

She sang many hit songs, including the 1953 Christmas song. She became well known in Britain when she scored a Top 40 hit in 1980 with the disco classic ‘Where Is My Man?’ that found her new audiences in nightclubs. It was in the Batman series in the 1960s that Eartha became a household name after Julie Newmar left the show. Unfortuntely it was during a White House luncheon with the Johnsons that she made some anti-war statements that upset the First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson. That incident put a hold on her career.

She made a comeback in the 1970s by doing New York’s Broadway, and later appeared regularly in theatre shows and concert halls. One of her more unusual roles was as Kaa the python in a 1994 BBC Radio adaptation of The Jungle Book. Eartha was born to a 14-year-old girl who was raped on a cotton plantation and was handed over to another family before being sent to live with an aunt in New York.

I don’t know where the hell this image came from but it’s totally cool, and I don’t know why. I mean, what the hell? We got Batman Dark Knight with a Vader outfit wielding a lightsaber! Now, how cool is that?

If only I could get my hands on a poster of this bad boy.
