Justice League is written by Geoff Johns with Jim Lee doing the art. The book will drop “of America.” Lee has acknowledged that the Justice League will have a roster of 14-15 JL(A) members, but the first few issues would focus on a smaller, core group. We’ll see a lot of Batman and Green Lantern, focusing on their antagonistic relationship. Here are 6 images from Justice League #1 we think you’ll like.

Saturday, July 30th, 2011Super Mutant Brothers: From Video Games to Comic Books
Wednesday, July 13th, 2011At a place like SuperHeroStuff.com, you either know your stuff or you get acclimated real fast. You see, when they hire you here, during the interview they literally quiz you. Yes, that is correct…being tested on one’s knowledge of super heroes as a term of employment. Where else can you find something like that? By no means can I even claim to know more then these guys here, but it is definitely more then your average Joe. You see, I’m a distinct child of the 90s and my comic book knowledge started completely by the heavy super hero saturation of the early decade. Waking up as the Sun rose and watching all of the Saturday morning cartoons on FOX just to get to X-Men(save the best for last, right?) or rushing home from school the catch Batman: the Animated series really was as close as I ever got to the ‘true’ comics back then.

I hope you can hear me humming the theme song
My interests, and to a lesser extent still do, focus on video games. That is perhaps the only reason I was able to pass the test here to get in. I grew up in arcades playing those sweet side scrolling beat em up games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the Simpsons game, or the X-Men one. One year, the only thing I asked for was a Nintendo, and perhaps that is what really sent me down this path. I’ve been hooked ever since. Heck, I even went to Super Mario Brothers movie with my best friend dressed up as Mario and Luigi(we were in like 2nd grade…don’t judge and to this day I will vehemently argue that movie is good. What can I say…I’m loyal). I’m the kind of guy that will argue things like who the better video game sociopath is; Id from Xenogears or Sephiroth from FF7. I’m the kind of guy that will mix Ayn Rand politcs with major plot lines in Bioshock. I’m the kind of guy who lost it when they saw someone dressed up as Altair from Assassin’s Creed ‘blending’ through the crowd at last year’s Philadelphia Comic Con. I don’t really shed a tear during movies, but the Metal Gear series has gotten me to well up on occasion. I’m used as an in game reference to lore in World of Warcraft because I played the other Warcraft games and paid a rather keen attention to the detail. The first time I heard the terms ‘fail’, ‘owned’, or ‘epic’ it was used to describe griffins, hill giants, and the Short Sword of Ykesha in Everquest. Let us digress from this video game name dropping, and get back to a subject we all understand: super heroes!

Oh, how I do love the Comic Cons

Somebody making this game yet?
There is an easy transition from video games to comic book heroes. What is so different from casting a chain lightning than yelling SHAZAM and being hit by one, transforming one into a mighty force of nature? What is so different than using bullet time when compared to the Flash or Zoom? What about all of the video games with pyrokinesis in all of its glory…Phoenix anyone? I wonder if Shadowcat enjoys the game Portal? Baraka and Wolverine should have a throw-down…though I’d have to give it to Wolvy. You see, it really is an easy jump!
As previously stated, when you are here, you learn to swim with comic sharks. I needed a hero, a favorite, to get behind. Surrounded by all of these super heroes, I could find something that spoke to me….something I could get behind. After all, we all enjoy a super hero for a personal reason, some more overt while others are a bit more subtle. I swear, one could almost develop an entire sub division of psychology based on this choice alone. I feel you can tell a lot about somebody based on their favorite character, but maybe that is just me. Maybe it was just luck, or fate, or simple happenstance but I noticed one day, perhaps my 2nd week here, that we were moving a lot of this ‘Green Lantern’ fella. At this point, I probably knew more of the Green Arrow than Green Lantern, so I asked ‘The *#$@ is this guy’s deal…he seems pretty popular?’ To which one of the others responded with a ‘He can make whatever with a magic ring’. My curiosity piqued, ‘What do you mean, anything?’ I mean, really, anything is a pretty big scope in my mind. We talking angel food cake here or dragons made of bone with kitten warriors on their back while shooting lasers and hellfire out of their eyes.. ‘Anything.’ He shot back. Well then, suppose I had some researching to do..
I think I got lucky at this point in the story, because the whole Blackest Night was coming to a finale. It is a lot of information to process quickly. Years of back story that left me slightly confused.. Kal-L and Kal-El? I thought it was just a misspelling…you mean there are two Supermen; how does that happen? Well, off to read the Crisis of Infinite Earths. Why is Batman so apprehensive about the other JLA’ers? Suppose I should pick up this Identity Crisis. It is a vicious cycle, I’m telling you! Through all of that madness though, the power of the Lanterns still held me enthralled. Power derived from creativity and emotion…as a Liberal Arts Major I could get behind that completely! The spectrum of emotional lights is like a super-charged mood ring. If I was in that ‘world’, I would either be a Blue Lantern or a Sinestro Corps member…really depends on what kind of day they catch me on. Hey, maybe they will mix one day and I’ll be a Green Lantern. You see, I paid attention in art class…public education works! I know this seems a bit DC focused, and it is but I’m starting to pick up some Marvel things. Cut me a little slack please…I needed to find a starting point(the Sentry catches my interest, and that whole Universe X story arc, as well as Demon in a Bottle)!

When our powers combine....
So, what’s the cut of my jib? What’s my angle? It is rather pretty simple – comic books are not as ‘closed’ as one might suspect. Maybe you aren’t a hardcore comic book kind of person but they’ve always caught you interest. Overwhelmed, you fear to pick up a book, scared that you’ll be lost. Don’t be. The world of comics is constantly changing, constantly referencing back on its self. Sure, you won’t know 100% of what is going on, but there is nothing keeping you from finding out and if you don’t, why bother? Enjoy the comics from what they are…a perfect blend of story telling and art. In a book, you are forced to rely completely on your imagination, and in a movie there is no room for it. However, in comics there is a distinct kind of fusion. The storyboard and images are laid out for you, but your mind makes up the rest.

Green Lantern Movie Review – Spoilers
Monday, June 20th, 2011
Green Lantern was directed by Martin Campbell, (Casino Royale 2006, Edge of Darkness 2010), written by Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Brothers & Sisters TV series, Eli Stone TV series), Michael Green (Heroes TV series), Marc Guggenheim (Brothers & Sisters TV series, Eli Stone TV series, FlashForward TV series) and Michael Goldenberg (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix screenplay, Peter Pan screenplay).
Hal Jordan was played by Ryan Reynolds (Buried, Paper Man, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) while his love interest Carol Ferris was played by Blake Lively (Gossip Girl TV series, The Town, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee) and was absolutely gorgeous. Sinestro was played by Mark Strong (Robin Hood:Godfrey, Kick-Ass:Frank D’Amico, Sherlock Holmes:Lord Blackwood) and did a spectacular job, as usual. Hector Hammond was played by Peter Sarsgaard (Knight and Day:Fitzgerald, Orphan:John Coleman, In the Electric Mist:Elrod Sykes).
By now, everyone knows that the mainstream media visciously panned Green Lantern, to the point that Rotten Tomatoes gave it a patheric 26% . This was partially brought on by the questionable CGI (computer-generated imagery) that everyone was complaining about. The CGI was such an issue that even YouTube’s ItsJustSomeRandomGuy made fun of the mask in his “Hi, I’m a Marvel…and I’m a DC” video.
Magneto: “You want to talk image problems with that mask!? Is ILM going to be done with that thing before the BluRay comes out?”
When it comes to Superhero movies, it’s generally the geeks who come unglued. And if you’re reading this, you know it’s true since you’ve probably partaken in some of the flaming rants yourself:
- Spider-Man: The suit sucked, talons in the finger tips, organic web-shooters, it’s Toby Maguire!
- Spider-Man 3: Too many villains. Suit’s still not right! EMO Toby Maguire! That’s not the real story of Venom! Eddie Brock looks like that kid from the 70s show!…. hey waitaminute!….
- Iron Man 2: He danced! WTF?! Story was weak.
- X-Men: The Last Stand: Yaaa Beast…. Aw Jeeze Juggernaut looks like sh!t! Oh no Mystique isn’t blue, WTF? Colossus isn’t Russain!
- Superman Returns: UGH!!
- Fantastic Four: UGH!!
- Wanted: Waitasecond… I thought this was about the graphic novel. What book is this about? This isn’t my WANTED!
- Ghost Rider: UGH!
The list is endless. Let’s face it, us comic fans are whiny, complaining little brats! … or could it possibly be that movie makers simply can’t make a real, REAL comic book movie if their life depended on it. But then again, even us geeks can’t make up our minds, Watchmen is a perfect example, was it good or not? It’s a coin toss, but personally, I loved it! Yaa for blue pee pees!
The interesting thing is that, everyone and their dog expected Green Lantern to suck yak nuggets. We were apprehensive as hell. What happened? We asked our Facebook fans, who saw it early, what they thought. They responded with an overwhelming positive response! They loved it! We were blown away. What the hell happened? For once, we were pleasantly surprised, aside from Heath Ledger’s massively perfect performance.
Why was Green Lantern good? Why were the movie critics in such unanimous opposition to what the geeks had to say? Here’s our thoughts.
- They stuck to comic canon. Not that hard, but most screenplay writers simply can’t open up a couple dozen comics and read the damn story and history on a hero. They covered all the basics to an adequate degree that the heavy duty, uber-geeks were happy. They even included an explanation (kinda) to the events leading to Abin Sur’s crash landing on Earth. You know, the question all fans asked over the years, “Why did Abin Sur need a ship if he could fly and couldn’t his ring help heal him?” So, they got that right and even added to the story.
They got Ferris Airfield down, the background of Hal’s father and his jacket, him being a hot shot pilot and even included an interesting display of Hal going up against some drones. They got Tomar Ra, Kilowag and the Guardians down perfectly. Oa was believable and Sinestro was superb. I loved seeing him work in Hal’s “training session.” They really showed what someone who had a strong will power could do with their ring. And did you notice Sinestro’s scars in his face? Made him look that much tougher. Don’t mess with Sinestro!

- The CGI was better than expected. Sure we thought it would be distracting, and sure they special effects guys had a challenge of making a suit that is supposed to be a construct out of light, not made of real material, without making it look like a poor CGI job but damnit, they pulled it off and the suits were alright.
- They bridged the origin and Blackest Night together in one movie, as well as leaving room for GL II with the Yellow Lantern corps.
- Ryan Reynolds delivered. Many of us thought he was too much a goof ball to carry the role of Hal Jordan, but he ended up winning us over.
- The last scene was awesome. Constructing two fighters to pull him from the gravity well was just too cool. And, to give a nod to old-school comics, Hal finishes the job with a big green right cross.
- Blake Lively was incredibly hot. No, seriously. Smoking hot. I’m talking, “move over Megan Fox” kinda hot. Her acting was adequate, but she wasn’t totally convincing as the Top Gun type of pilot. Tom Cruise, she aint.
- The mask. …ok, the mask sucked. They should have done a better job with it, but moving on.
- There was an adequate amount of humor, and some good fight scenes. Peter Sarsgaard (Hector Hammond) was fantastic as a creepy scientist. And Angela Bassett was a great cold hearted, head turning scientist as well, playing Dr. Amanda Waller quite convincingly. … loved them heels.
In short, the movie delivered beyond our expectations. It wasn’t the best out there, but it still delivered an entertaining two hours that was convincing with good graphics and decent story line that held our attention and stuck good enough to canon to keep us from ripping it apart. Again, it was better than expected. It’s unfortunate that mainstream media had to be so harsh on the movie when it’s quite apparent that fans, true comic fans, thoroughly enjoyed it. We suggest you go see the movie, and if you’re not totally familiar with Blackest Night or the origins of Green Lantern, go visit your local comic shop guy and tell him to hook you up.

New Stuff! Tastes Good! Free Range! Molecularly Transposed!
Friday, February 25th, 2011Back to the new stuff, then. Oh, and how does one go about transposing molecules, anyway? Hmmmm. Maye the Infinity Gauntlet could help with that. Anyway, as always, we received a ton of new swag and…lucky, lucky you…I’m gonna’ focus a tight lens on the unusually wide screen canvas filled with 35,000 metric tons of super-stuff!
You like Green Lantern? How about….drinking? Coffee, I mean. Yeah. Well, we married your two very obvious desires to give you the Green Lantern 18oz Green Barrel Decal Mug! It’s got everyone’s favorite, overly-confident yet surprisingly modest (wha?) test pilot Hal Jordan donning the Green Lantern Garb! And…turn it around…there’s the Green Lantern Logo layered over the Green Lantern symbol! It’s 18oz! It’s ceramic! It’s barrel shaped and not subject to dissipation due to broken concentration!
You like Batman? You like…transporting a meal for later consumption? And by meal I
mean…lunch. Yeah? Well, then, the Batman Swinging Square Tin Tote is for you! It’s tin! It’s usable, collectible….and, it features a suspiciously happy Batman! What is UP with that smile!!!??? Oh…that’s right. It’s been 48 hours and the Joker has yet to break out of Arkham Asylum. That…that’s a record. Anyway, the lunchbox measures 7.5″ across, 3″ wide and 7.5″ high, perfect for securing that abomination of a sandwich you refer to as the Egg Salad-Chocolate Chip-Wich!

And yes, we STILL sell sleeved torso wrappings! And by that I mean….shirts! Some of them…some of them have LONG SLEEVES! For example, the Green Lantern Distressed Black Long Sleeve T-Shirt! It’s made from 100% Cotton and features a purposely distressed Green Lantern Symbol on a black t-shirt! Green Lanterns never really get cold due to the protective field provided by that exquisitely cosmic jewelry, but…..well, let’s be frank. You really don’t have that advantage. I mean, you had the opportunity but you’re just…you’re just too damn insecure and absolutely bleeding fear. The ring……it wasn’t feeling it.
Let’s see…….Something else providing warmth adorned with the purposely distressed symbol of a
particularly admired superhero..? How about the Flash Distressed Symbol Heather Gray Hoodie? Yeah, baby! That’s the stuff; the freakin’ CATS PAJAMAS! It’s a hooodie! It’s adorned with a purposely distressed Flash symbol! It..has pockets! It will keep you warm! It has a hood! It’s heather-gray! It will…keep you warm AND it’s a hoodie! NEXT!!!!

Look at this. LOOK AT IT!!!! It’s so…it’s SOOO CUTE! It’ s the JLA Justice League Blocks Onesie and..you HAVE TO BUY IT FOR THE WEE-ONE IMMEDIATELY! It has the symbols of your favorite heroes adorning the sides of building blocks! Cute little building blocks cupped in the hands of your cooing wee-one as I type this coalescent copy! Uh…where is ANY coalescing occurring within this article, you’re wondering? Why, in the merging of our common interests, of course! HAH! It’s got 3 snaps for closure on the bottom of the ….thing…and..it’s got Superhero symbols adorning he sides of cute little building blocks! SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!
All right. That’s it for this week. Promise. Now, you do your part: buy something. Waiting…..No, not that! That’s not expensive enough. I promise I’ll use the money to surgically implant rocket thrusters into the soles of my feet. And then…I’ll put my maiden flight up on YouTube. Yep. Uh……yep.
Upcoming Superhero Movies – 2011/2012
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – December 16
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back as Sherlock Holmes and formidable colleague, Dr. Watson, in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.” Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room until the new criminal mastermind at Professor Moriarty (played by Jared Harris, TV’s “Mad Men,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and also played the voice of Ridley in Tales of the Black Freighter) shows up. Moriarty is Holmes’ intellectual equal with a capacity for evil and complete lack of conscience proves to give our renowned detective a run for his money.
Holmes’ investigation into Moriarty’s plot becomes increasingly more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London and across Europe, to France, Germany and Switzerland. But Moriarty is always one step ahead, weaving and spinning a web of death and destruction, which, come to find out, is all part of a greater evil plot that will change the course of history…. or, in their case, the future. See, it’s changing our history, or, our fictional history which ties into Holmes’ stories but since it hasn’t happened yet… ugh… it’s just like in the Start Trek movie with changing time and stuff.
Guy Ritchie returns to direct “Game of Shadows,” .. you thought I was going to say Game of Thrones, didn’t you.
In her first English-speaking role, Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, who gained international attention in the Swedish film “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” plays Sim. Stephen Fry (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”) is Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother.
“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” is written by Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were created by the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and appear in stories and novels by him. Go out and start reading some Sherlock, it won’t disappoint.
The Adventures of Tintin – December 23
The Adventures of Tintin is a series of classic comic books created by the Belgian artist Georges Rémi (1907–1983). It is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century, translated into more than 80 languages and more than 350 million copies of the books sold to date. Set during a largely realistic 20th century, the hero, Tintin, is a young Belgian reporter who ends up on adventures to far away places. With him is his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy.
Additional cast include cynical & grumpy Captain Haddock, the intelligent but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus, two incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson. The author, pen named Hergé, himself is featured in several of the comics as a background character, thinking of Alfred Hitchcock here. Appears to be a promising family flick.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter – Feb 22
This isn’t from the movie, it’s just an ad for the book.
The Avengers – May 4
Written and directed by Joss Whedon, featuring an ensemble cast, including Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
When an unexpected enemy emerges who threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, the director of the S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division), finds himself in need of a team of superheroes and ends up recruiting Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to pull the world back from the brink of disaster and destruction.
Tom Hiddleston is back as Norse god of mischief, and adopted brother to Thor, Loki who comes to Earth to subjugate it, to rule the human race as their king. About his character, Hiddleston said, “I think the Loki we see in The Avengers is further advanced. You have to ask yourself the question: how pleasant an experience is it disappearing into a wormhole that has been created by some kind of super nuclear explosion of his own making? So I think by the time Loki shows up in The Avengers he’s seen a few things.”
Cobie Smulders is S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill who works closely with Nick Fury. Regarding her preparation, Smulders stated, “I hired this amazing black-ops trainer to teach me how to hold a gun, take me to a shooting range, how to hit, how to hold myself, how to walk and basically how to look. I don’t do a ton of fighting in the movie, which is why I wasn’t offered a trainer, but I wanted to look like I had the ability to. And I really just got down and dirty with the character, but then I finally went on set; when you’re about to roll, all the “blubbity blue” you’ve been working on kind of messes with you. And you become a little bit detached.”
Note: S.H.I.E.L.D. the espionage and secret military law-enforcement agency was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Strange Tales #135 (Aug. 1965). The acronym originally stood for Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division. It was changed in 1991 to Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate and when the Marvel movies started hitting the scene, it changed once again to Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
Battleship – May 18
Based off the Hasbro game. … no, we’re not kidding.
Battleship is directed by Peter Berg who’s done a lot of TV, Prime Suspect (TV series), Friday Night Lights (TV series) & Trauma (TV series), but not much for producing movies. Alexander Skarsgård, who’s done Straw Dogs, and played Eric Northman in True Blood (TV series). Taylor Kitsch, John Carter, Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine , Friday Night Lights (TV series) and smoking hot Brooklyn Decker, Jessica Simpson clone, plays Sam(antha).
In the Hawaiian Islands, the naval fleet engage in intense battle against an alien race known as “The Regents”. The aliens come to planet Earth, to build a power source in the Pacific Ocean. The film is to show both sides of the story, the aliens’ as well as the humans’ so the audience knows exactly where the opponent’s ships are.
John Carter of Mars – June 8
You might remember Taylor Kitsch as Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights (TV series), or better as Remy LeBeau/Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. What’s interesting is that Edgar Rice Burroughs, played by Daryl Sabara, actually wrote himself in his own books as a surrogate nephew to John Carter.
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the Barsoom series of John Carter from 1912 – 1964. Captain John Carter is an Earthman, was a Virginian who fought in the American Civil war as a Confederate soldier. After the Civil War, Carter moved to the SW United States to work as a prospector. In 1866 he and his prospector partner strike wealth; but the partner is killed by Indians and Carter takes refuge in a cave where he is overcome by smoke produced by an Indian woman. Carter wakes up to find himself on Mars. While on Mars, Carter was believed to be dead by those who knew him on Earth, but he re-emerges in New York 10 years later in 1876, settling on the Hudson River.
John Carter appeared to die in 1886, leaving instructions for a Burroughs, who refers to him as an ‘uncle’ of the family, to entomb him in a crypt, and leaving Burroughs with the manuscript of A Princess of Mars with instructions not to publish it for another 21 years. He has no memory before the age of 30 and seems never to age. If you haven’t read the books, you can start with A Princess of Mars or you might be interested in the recent John Carter comic book, Warlord of Mars.
Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus – Jun 8
Director Ridley Scott’s sci-fi pic Prometheus has been shrouded in mystery for some time, up till now as the first crop of actor-revealing images appear in this week’s EW. We get a look at stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender in spacesuits on an unknown planet, a gigantic head statue, and what look to be primitive forms of the eggs seen in Alien. “What are they?? …. they look like eggs of some sort that house a creature that might kill all of us. .. let’s take a closer look and see.” We also get a peek at Charlize Theron and Idris Elba.
Long said to be a prequel to Scott’s sci-fi/horror classic Alien, the director recently revealed that the last eight minutes of Prometheus will “evolve into a pretty good DNA of the Alien one.” Keep an eye out for the trailer. Prometheus opens in 3D on June 8th, 2012.

Superhero Picture of the day 030810: Hawkeye
Monday, March 8th, 2010Let’s get one thing clear. … the entire concept of “bringing a knife to a gun fight” is seen in a guy who shoots arrows at bad guys instead of using firearms. It’s just stupid. “What about a man who flies or sticks to walls like chewing gum!? Huh!?” – Shut up you.
Look, what makes the comic/sci-fi/fantasy universe work is “suspension of disbelief.” For example, 2001: A Space Odyssey is hands-down, the closest thing to reality in space that we’ll ever see on the screen. They got it right, even for a movie made in 1968. But Star Wars (the first movie, which is the last (6th) in the series) was infinitely more entertaining to the masses regardless of it’s ludicrous plausibility. You don’t hear, or see, lasers in space. You can’t walk on an asteroid with nothing more than a gas mask and Lord knows Tashi Station is the WORST place in the galaxy to get power converters! “So! What’s that have to do with my hero Hawkeye!!!” – SHUT up you!
The deal is that, even though all of these Star Wars flaws are true, we tend to “ignore the man behind the curtain” and suspend our disbelief while we are entertained. Can we believe in a man who flies or sticks to walls? … of course we can’t, but we waaaant to believe it soooo bad, that we will set aside our logic for the sake of entertainment.
What about a guy who paints a white skull on his chest and takes vengeance on the mobsters and bad guys? Who wouldn’t!? You tell me you wouldn’t after they did that to your wife and kids. The Punisher is probably the most believable character in the entire comic universe, movies aside where he’s friggin’ SWINGING FROM A CHANDELIER UPSIDE DOWN while firing twin 9 millimeters, that’s just stupid writing. I’ll take a flying man in skivies any day of the week over that scene. … that didn’t come out right, but you know what I mean.
“You’re still not getting to the point! Why do you hate Hawkeye? I love Hawkeye!” – egad. Let me finish. So Star Wars is flawed and our desires to want to be billionaire crime fighters or invulnerable heroes is so great we can over look the the realities of their inherent problems of existing in reality.
This is not the case with a guy who shoots arrows at people who carry AK-47s, grenades and all other sorts of military hardware that is used in the field of war! Look, the idea that someone picks up a device that was developed by people who lived in mud back in the stone ages and was antiquated over 250 years ago is just ludicrous. Apparently Marvel AND DC never bothered looking into exactly why the American Indians lost the gun battles over the years. Yeah, we cheated and used germ warfare on them, but point is that they lost and not having a handgun or rifle played no small part in their tragedy.
So, Smallville aside, Green Arrow, played by Justin Hartley, who does a spectacular role of Green Arrow, is still of disbelief proportions so great, that only a handful of people refuse to swallow it. … ok, so I’m the only one. Brian, co-owner of Superherostuff, in charge of the warehouse, says I’m full of it. Oh Yeah? These images of some of those highly plausible arrows is just a smattering of what DC has(had) going on. The whole Arrowete thing is just…. well just darn not believable.
“What’s this have to do with Hawkeye! He’s no GL! He wears a purple skirt, by golly!” – For the love of…. It doesn’t matter what color his outfit is, or if he’s wearing a skirt, they’re both using a weapon used by people in the stone age!!! It just doesn’t work in reality.
“But Hawkeye’s cool!” – .. sigh… What’s cool is that someone took the time to photoshop Justin Hartley’s GL into Hawkeye. THAT’S what’s cool. Aside from these two characters being pretty much the same thing, they shoot arrows (big deal) this is still a cool image, capturing both Hawkeye along with GL in a very cool pose with a very cool bow. For imagery, it works.
Blackest Night T-Shirts Finally Here!
Monday, April 6th, 2009We finally have the Green Lantern Blackest night t-shirts, along with more other Green Lantern shirts. If you haven’t been keeping up with the Green Lantern series, you’ll want to pick up the comics or do what I do and save a buck or two and wait for the graphic novel to come out. Friggin’ comics are just way too expensive these days.
Essentially, the GL Corps is battleing the Sinestro Corps and it’s heating up way bad! Then, right when it’s about to just totally loose it in the battle of the rings, two of the little blue Hobbit guys tell Hal, Guy, Kyle, and John, “oops, we forgot to tell you about the Blackest Night Prophesy!” And the GLs are all, “WTF? No, you didn’t tell us about no Black Prophesy, but could you speed it up here? We’re in a bit of a mix!”
According to the prophesy, the two Corps, GL and Sinestro, are to be joined by five more “Corps” that are driven by a specific emotion and color. When they show up, there’s supposed to be a huge battle, the War Of Light!
![]() Violet Lantern Symbol Zamarons’ Star Sapphires have supposedly moved to a ring and lantern motif and ascribed the emotion of love as the color’s power source. LOVE Love Love, all you need is love. |
![]() Orange Lantern Symbol Orange: The plot elements have revealed the color’s power source, avarice,[3] and that both the Controllers and an unseen character “Agent Orange” are searching for the color. |
![]() Indigo Lantern Symbol Indigo: No plot elements beyond the prophecy and its power source, compassion, and that the bearers carry staffs[3], have appeared relating to this color. They are known as the Indigo Tribe. |
![]() Red Lantern Symbol Red: The lanterns, rings, corps name, and origin point within the Empire of Tears have appeared as plot elements[16] with rage being ascribed as the power source of this color. Former Green Lantern Laira became the second Red Lantern in April 2008, the first being Atrocitus. A one-shot tie-in to Final Crisis titled Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns prominently featured the Red Lanterns and Alpha-Lanterns as well as the “Lanterns of a couple colors”. |
![]() Blue Lantern Symbol Blue: The story elements presented so far have been the creation of the first blue ring by Ganthet and Sayd and that the emotion of hope is the color’s source of power. The first Blue Lantern, Saint Walker, made an appearance in the “Final Crisis: Rage of the Red Lanterns” one-shot. The second Blue Lantern, Warth, was chosen by Saint Walker and first appeared in Green Lantern #36. |
Rumors regarding the Blackest Night series are… The Ronnie Raymond incarnation of the deceased Firestorm will be a Black Lantern. GASP! The first member of the Black Lantern Corps is the “Earth-2 Superman”. Looks like there’s a a Black Lantern Martian Manhunter as well. What’s the deal, DC’s reinventing all their heroes as baddies? We’ll probably see Kal-L and Aquaman as Black Lanterns too. Who’s next, Bucky and Maxwell Lord what about Jason Todd? No wait… Todd’s alive isn’t he. So’s Bucky. Doh! Scar comes out and says that she’s batting for the other team… no, not like that, but that shw now, “serve[s] the universe no more,” and that she, “serve[s] another force that has crept into [her] being and revealed the unfathomable power within the vacuum of space.” Lex Luthor is to play a big role in the Blackest Night crossover as well as Superboy/Conner Kent.
Think of the Guardian’s quote, “…But he is dead. And we control the dead. For once I bear witness to the book of the black, and I question what it shows me, the dead will save you, Luthor. From Brainiac. From Superman. And from yourself”.
The dead… Batman’s dead … you think Bat’s'll be sportin’ a black ring soon?
