Kara Zor-El, Supergirl's Kryptonian name, is Superman's first cousin. Her daddy, Zor-El, who was Jor-El's brother, Supes' uncle, sent her off in a rocket but it got encased in a fragment of Krypton slowing her arrival to Earth.
