Venom started out as a symbiotic alien, bonding to other life forms to sustain its existence, providing the hosts enhanced abilities in return. While on another planet and during Marvel’s Secret Wars, Spider-Man found himself in need of a new costume after his was destroyed in battle. He stumbled into a prison containing the alien Symbiote which immediately covered his weary figure.
